- El proyecto "Antártica-Científica",
es el primer proyecto privado del
mundo que basa su funcionamiento en
embarcaciones menores y de bajo
costo operativo, creado para apoyar al
científico en su labor de terreno en
los canales patagónicos, península
antártica e islas oceánicas. Con estas
características tiene como gran
potencial y única finalidad apoyar
el desarrollo de la ciencia de
campo.
- Los estudios de campo estan
siendo cada ves más trascendentes
y necesarios, porque necesitamos
entender el comportamiento de los
océanos para poder saber como
irán reaccionando al cambio
climático y cuales serán las
consecuencias. Y en esto, la zona
sur de chile es la menos estudiada
del planeta y tal vez una de las más
importantes.
- Es por esto que hemos desarrollado este
proyecto para dar cabida a
todos los pequeños proyectos
que por motivos económicos se
encuentran eternamente excluidos.
- Esperamos tener operando, a
partir del verano austral 2010-
2011, la primera embarcación
menor, diseñada y construida
especialmente para la ciencia, la
primera embarcación científica
menor del mundo con capacidad
de navegar en la antártica y
patagónia. Así, los proyectos
pequeños que siempre han tenido
gran dificultad de financiamiento
ahora podrán llevarse a cabo,
ayudaremos a estudiar el
calentamiento global y así tener
una mayor posibilidad de prevenir
sus efectos, podremos estudiar los
glaciares que llegan al mar, la
flora y la fauna de una forma distinta,
acercándonos a ella hasta tocarlas,
observar y muestrear con facilidad
nunca antes lograda.

- Fieldwork is growing in importance and necessity since we need to understand the oceans’ behaviour in order to know their reaction to the climatic change and their would-be consequences. Up to now, in this aspect the Chilean southern area is the least studied on the planet, and maybe it is one of the most important.
- Due to the previous mentioned aspects we have developed this project to give an opportunity to those small plans which are constantly left out because of monetary reasons.
- We hope to have working our first small boat from the Austral 2010-2011 summer season, which was specially designed and built for scientific purposes, a fact which will turn it into the first small boat sailing the Antarctic and Patagonia.
- Thus, those small projects which have always had trouble because of monetary reasons, will have the opportunity to be carried out, and we will also be able to help studying the global warming to cope with its feasible effects, to study the glaciers which reach the sea, the flora and fauna in such a different way that we will be able to approach, touch, observe and sample it at a never-before done ease.
